Announcing a new goPro workshop! San Diego, California

Tyler and I love teaching these things. Especially in the middle of winter in a nice beachy location :)

If you've been sitting on the fence about coming to one of our goPro workshops-  sit on the fence no longer. Because sitting on fences is horribly uncomfortable. Info below!

February 6-7th 2015!

What is a goPro workshop?

It's a TWO day, intense workshop for budding photographers and already-in-the-biz photogs who need a lift. Portfolio building, photoshop talk, lighting discussions, the secrets of the biz, etc.

We're arranging multiple shoots, lots of helpful info- it will make your head explode. In a good way. Plus, throughout the years of teaching this we've realized that a definite perk of our goPro workshop is the community you join; we have a Facebook group of lots of wonderful past workshoppers who are still in touch and helping each other out every day.

boy, interrupting.

For over two years now Tyler and I have been trying to teach our kids not to interrupt us when we are talking. Interestingly enough, they have been pretty good about not interrupting us when talking to other adults for years now, but they just can't grasp the fact at times, that parents need to talk without interruption!

So, we made this rule, that they needed to wait for a 3 second pause in our conversation before they could, ideally, say "Excuse me?" and get our attention.  After a while we had to change the rule to 5 seconds because, guess what? Children count really fast.

As most kids do, sometimes rules are forgotten, so recently we've had to do a major crackdown on this rule.  We reiterated that they can't just be interjecting random things not pertaining to the conversation while we are talking and they need to be patient before talking.

So, there Tyler and I were one night, fully into a conversation about some scheduling issue, when Isaac blurted out "I CAN'T REMEMBER SOMETHING. "

Honestly, friends, I tried not to be irritated. So I reminded Isaac of the rule and then asked what he wanted.

"Oh, yeah, sorry, I was just needing to know how many seconds I need to wait before I could say Excuse Me."

I laughed and was annoyed at the same time. I said, "It's five seconds, did you interrupt to ask me that?"

"Yeah."

"Okay," I said. "Do you see how that doesn't really make sense?"

yogurt sense

Several weeks ago in some city I can't remember, you would have found us in yet another frozen yogurt shop for an afternoon snack. Isaac tends to be interested in the weight of his treat (this was the type of yogurt shop where you pay by the ounce) so I heard him asking the gal behind the counter how much the cup weighed.

"It doesn't weigh anything," the girl replied.

"Really? Nothing?" asked Isaac, a little dubious.

"Yes, correct. The cups weigh nothing." The girl went back to her duties.

Isaac meandered over to Tyler and said under his breath, "Dad, you are going to looooove this. That girl thinks her cups weigh NOTHING!  hahahahahah! Somebody should really explain this shop to her."
