Returning Home: The process

Today we ended our road trip. It was really, really fun and quite non-stop! Toward the end, I began thinking thoughts like, "I miss my bedroom. More specifically, I miss the bedroom door. That has a lock on it. To keep the kids out. So they can't be in my face all the time. Talking. Incessantly. Yeah, I'm ready to be home." Hahah!

Seriously though, the kids were great and easy. Just verrrrrrrry talkative, which is great! I am so glad they feel welcome to share SO MANY OPINIONS AND THOUGHTS. Oh so many! And the questions?! SO MANY QUESTIONS! You guys would not believe it. Unless you have talkative preteens yourself. Then you hear me. Let's e-hug in solidarity.

Now that we are home, it's time to de-tox, unpack, and catch up with work and homework. Are you the kind of person that unpacks immediately? I am. It annoys my family.

Truthfully, we rolled into town and didn't even go straight home. We went to the park so the wild animals (children) could work out their wiggles and I could work out my EXTREME SCIATIC PAIN that is back in full force. (Not to whine or anything, but do you pity me yet?) Then we went to the library for new books. And now it's time to go home, unpack and lock my bedroom door!

HOOOOORAAAYYYYYY!

Have a great Wednesday, everyone.

Super Bowl

I really love the conversations the kids have with Tyler and me in the car while we travel. Like the saying goes, kids do say the darndest things, and I'm noticing that as they get older they are getting funnier and waaaaaay more talkative, so they are pretty much always making me chuckle.

Lately we were talking about sports and which sports we liked to watch or play, and how exciting it is to go to big stadiums to watch games. The super bowl came up, which prompted Isaac to ask, "What is this super bowl I'm always hearing about? Like, Giant bowling?"

You wish, Isaac. You wish.

November list

A list of the best things about coming home after being gone for 1 month:

- your house seems brand new when you return to it. It even still has that new house smell even though it's 2 years old and there was rotten food in the fridge.

- your children run upstairs and hop into their beds and do a happy bed dance- thankful to sleep in their own little space.

-hugest stack of mail ever!

- tons of new tv shows to catch up on while you edit.

- you forget where your silverware drawer is and that makes you laugh to yourself.

- your best friends give you super tight hugs when they see you again. I missed them so much.

-you have more than 5 outfits to wear!

- daily chores like cooking, cleaning, laundry, all seem like fun things to do.

-we can longboard again, it seemed like forever.

-blogging resumes.

Being home is simply lovely. With it comes the realization that yes, one needs a permanent place. A place to regroup and refresh yourself. A place to sleep in and laze the day away with your snuggling kids.
