Before we got our dog, North, I was not at all a dog person. I didn't and couldn't understand why people would basically act as slaves to dogs, picking up their poops and following them around on leashes, and spending lots of money on expensive vet bills, etc. I was basically a dog scrooge.
In 2013 the rest of my family members got this evil idea in their heads that we should get a dog. I was pretty vocal with my "NO, NEVER" response. I mean, we lived on the road, for crying out loud! Where would we put it? What would we do when it ate the car interior? (This was definitely going to happen, in my brain.)
Well- a month later we had a puppy. North! He sure was cute, but he was a lot of work. A LOT. Sometimes I would fantasize about a life without him, even though I was kind of addicted to his cuteness. Sometimes I would fantasize about dropping him off at a farm and driving away (these are true confessions, people, and I'm not proud of it!).
But then... it happened! I fell absolutely in love with him. He was so charming, and learned how to obey, and not eat things like my only pair of shoes, etc. He became my little sidekick, and we went on walks three times a day together, to escape the crowded RV we were living in. Loving North quickly rocketed into a love for ALL dogs. This shocked me, but I couldn't help it. My heart grew 30 sizes. My new favorite social activities were to go to the dog park and meet other dog lovers, or talk to other dog walkers I ran into.
Now, I am a full-fledged dog lover and I want ALL the dogs. Can I please have all the dogs?
