Sure, with a title like that, you'd think I would post actual photos from a wedding we photographed. But! We don't photograph weddings anymore, so...
Recently, Tyler's brother got married. This was a HIGHLY anticipated event by our children Isaac and Isabelle. I'm sure Tyler's brother and his fiancé were excited about getting married too, but, not as excited as Isaac and Isabelle.
As the wedding drew near and plans for the ceremony and reception were made, Isaac and Isabelle would constantly be asking me questions about how it all would go down. You see, this would be their first ever wedding to attend! I could plainly see their excitement and wonder. It was freaking ADORABLE. Isabelle wanted to know, would there be a huge cake? And Isaac wanted to know everyone who was coming. Yes, every single name on the guest list.
About a week before the big day, I was sitting at a table working while Isaac and Isabelle drew things nearby on paper. They were whispering, laughing, plotting, scribbling. Finally they came up to me and said, "Mom. We have the map drawn."
The map? I was confused and let them know so. "Yes, mom. We made a map of the wedding location so as guests arrive we can hand them this map, and they will know where all the food stations are."
"Oh and MOM!" Isabelle interjected. "I have made a sign in sheet! So that guests can write their name and phone numbers on it!"
Trying to stifle my laughter was no small feat. I felt so bad for these kids- they really wanted to be the wedding coordinators here, that was apparent. As I looked at the lovely little scribbled map and the carefully printed out guest list/sign in sheet, I was just filled with so much love for these little guys. So excited for EVERYTHING. Wanting to be invoked-slash-in charge-boss of everything.
I carefully broke the news that the bride and groom are actually the ones who decide if there is a map, and if there is a sign in sheet, etc. Wow. Their faces. Incredulous.
Isabelle stormed off. "Well when I GET MARRIED I'm doing everything MY WAY! There WILL BE a sign in sheet!"
