In New York City a couple of weeks ago, we had the pleasure of staying in a great hotel in Midtown west, which was a new neighborhood for us to stay in. We usually frequent Central Park west, but were happy to try out some new restaurants.
As usual we had to find a place to park our car for the duration of our stay. This time we left it in the ferry parking lot in Weehawken NJ. After about day 4 of our time in NYC without our car, Isabelle turned and said to me, "Mom? Without our car, I feel a tiny bit homeless."
After my heart broke into a billion tiny shards and silently and rapidly questioned all of my parenting tactics, I asked her if she would like to quickly take a ferry over to the car to say hello. I figured it might be worth the 35 minutes time it would take to do so, if it would make her feel better.
She replied, "Tsk. No, mom- I kind of like the feeling of being out here in the weird, cold world. It's adventure-y."
I couldn't possibly argue with that.
