Thanks for the awesome comments about Isaac's 7th birthday shoot. If you're new to our blog, go check out Isabelle's 5th birthday shoot (Japan), Isaac's 6th birthday shoot (Hawaii) and Isabelle's 4th birthday shoot (home). We tend to go a little crazy.
Every July we head to Portland and Seattle. At first, it was a vacation, with a few photo shoots mingled in. Now, we book a solid trip and squeeze in the vacation days.
This year we camped for nearly a month between Portland, Seattle, and British Colombia, and my jeans and Toms were replaced with REI quick dry pants and lame v-necks. Fashion doesn't matter in the wilderness, I'm hoping.
I've written about Keen shoes before, and how we wear them basically all the time when we travel, especially the kids. It's hard to buy any other shoe for the kids when I know they will always default to the Keen due to comfort and easy-on access. Keens are perfect for our lifestyle. You can wear them trudging through endless city blocks; you can kick them off easily in a plane; you can wade through a stream and continue hiking until they are dry; and if you are Isaac you can use them to help you scale up a sheer rock wall. Again, our kids are obsessed with Keens.
They were pretty stoked when the following happened:
Tyler and I were on separate shoots in Downtown Portland, each with one of our own kids keeping us company. While on the photo-route we met in the middle, and there, a friendship was born.
Isaac met Isaac.
Two handsome, cheery boys with the same name, roughly same age... wearing, on their feet:
Ah, destiny. A Keen friendship was forged. For just a moment, the boys hung out, exchanged toothy smiles, and then went separate ways.
This is the best part of the story: A few days later, driving up to Seattle, Belle piped up this golden nugget from the backseat:
"Remember that boy Isaac at your session who looked EXACTLY like our Isaac? He was soooo cute!"
Tyler and I exchanged glances, smiled, and felt warm fuzzies in our hearts.
It's like the alter-Isaac's mom wrote later:
How funny that Isabelle thinks the two Isaacs look exactly alike. I suppose with the same jeans, keens, same age, about the same height, same name--- what's the difference?
No difference. Just two smiling faces and four happy Keen feet.
