Like Aunt, like niece. Wait, what?

I have four sisters.  This explains a lot.  If you haven't met me, maybe not.  But if you have…  Okay still, maybe not.  But also, maybe.  Right?

I am about to call out one of them.  I am just going to pause a second to let them squirm.

My mom tells me the story of my nana feeding me too many carrots.  I was young enough when this happened that it is outside the edge of my memory.  (I wasn't sixteen, I swear.)  I apparently loved carrots as a toddler.  My Nana was watching me.  As nanas are wont to do, she was also spoiling me.

As a bit of context to the story.  I was a fat baby.  Fat, is probably not a grotesque enough term.  Corpulent is closer, but not yet there.  Loose jowled.  Yes, we have a winner.

My appetite was immense.  My grandmother fed me carrots.  And I inhaled them.  Spoonful after spoonful.  And probably bowl after bowl.  We were a well-choreographed pair.  Her spoon always dancing near my gaping mouth.  Somewhere amidst the frenzy, my six-year-old sister lectured my grandmother.

"Nana, you are feeding him too much.  He is going to be sick.  Stop."

"I know what I am doing." my grandmother no doubt replied.

About three spoonfuls later, I erupted.  Orange covered the table and floor around me.  My grandmother had not been spared from the onslaught.  A single half digested carrot decorated her cheek.  She glanced over at my sister, who could not decide whether to roll her eyes or to lecture, and so settled for rolling her eyes at the end of her lecture.

My little Isabelle is caste in the same mold.

She was at her Grambie's house.  She and Isaac and Grambie were riding scooters together.  They were zipping about.  Isabelle instructed Grambie how to use the brake.  They rode for a long time.  Grambie hit a loose rock and tumbled to the ground.  Isaac ran over to Grambie.

"Are you alright?"  He asked worriedly.  He hugged and comforted Grambie.  Isabelle surveyed the scene.  She also rushed over to her fallen grandmother.

She stooped down.  Leaned toward her.  And yelled "USE YOUR BRAKE!!!"

This good, beloved family lets Blue Lily bombard their farm every year with dozens of DC metro area families who want pictures on their property. You can see why, right? It's beautiful.  This year we wandered around the farm wildly, and we particularly enjoyed photographing them by the woodshop where the wood for their farmhouse was cut. Neat.

Subliminal message: Demand to go to our goPro workshop for your Christmas present this year!
